Separate what can be saved from what must stay live
A prepared route can include ordered stops, saved context, downloaded audio, and a map area when the chosen tool supports it. New AI answers, new route generation, real-time transit, fresh reviews, current opening hours, tickets, and closures normally need a connection.
Check each app’s exact boundary. Do not assume that downloading one map also saves a tour, audio, booking, or document.
- Saved: the exact route, stop details, audio, maps, notes, and documents you confirmed.
- Live: new planning, current transport, access, hours, prices, reviews, and availability.
- Test: switch off data and open every item you plan to depend on.
Run the offline checklist before leaving Wi-Fi
Open the saved route, play the audio, confirm the map area, and check that important addresses are available as text or screenshots. Charge the phone, carry a power bank for a long day, and save the accommodation address separately.
Then complete live checks for any essential museum, park, timed attraction, restaurant reservation, or transport connection. Saved content cannot know what changed after it was downloaded.
Adapt the preparation to each Spanish city day
A Madrid museum day, a Barcelona neighborhood walk, a historic-center route in Seville, and a rural day trip have different distances, transport needs, and signal risks. Prepare and test the content for that specific day instead of relying on one large download for the whole trip.
Keep the return route and a useful endpoint in the plan. For a tightly timed cruise stop or day trip, add enough buffer to return even if a planned stop changes.
- Use a real starting point and a realistic walking window.
- Save the return address or station as well as the attractions.
- Keep one indoor, shorter, or lower-energy fallback.
Reconnect deliberately when the plan needs fresh information
Offline access keeps a prepared city route usable; it does not freeze the world around it. Reconnect when you need a new route, current transit, changed access, a live restaurant option, or help adapting the plan.
Travvy is most useful when preparation and flexibility work together: save the tour you intend to follow, then use live planning again when the day materially changes.
